Annoying Things in life #6. Passenger Behind Kicking Airline Seat
I would be surprised if most of you have not had this experience. I do quite a bit of travelling (albeit less during the past 2 years) and it has always nice to get oneself onto the aircraft seated comfortably in anticipation of a forthcoming destination – hopefully a sunny vacation spot. Just when things seem to be going along nicely you become aware of the passenger behind (more often a youngster) who decides they want to practise their kicking skills into the rear of your seat. Whilst this may be accidental on one or two occasions, when it becomes a frequent occurrence (or the child then decides to practise their drumming skills), one must speak up and address the matter with the offending individual. Hopefully there is a parent close by who will acknowledge how annoying this is. As someone who has travelled with young infants in the past, I understand that a crying child close by on an aircraft is something that is inevitable and difficult to control. Prior to becoming a parent of young infants, I was not so tolerant of this situation, but there is nothing like being the “guilty parent” of an upset and screaming child on a flight to appreciate that it is something you have to live with- and do you best to manage (with frequent apologies to nearby passengers!). I have now become much more understanding of those parents who are travelling in that situation! However, I have always made sure my kids are not the “guilty party” in the airline seat kicking competition. I hope your next journey is a “kick free” experience.
Look out for my next posting in the following week
